Agrarian movements and rural populism in Indonesia

چکیده

In this article, we reflect on the changing trajectories of agrarian movements in Indonesia. two decades after independence, a left-populist alliance peasants, plantation workers, and other affiliate organizations achieved mass following were embraced by President Sukarno. aftermath their violent destruction, Suharto regime reordered into single corporatist model. Suharto's downfall opened way for re-emergence movements. But later, they remain small fragmented, with little influence at national level. conditions rural life, increasingly authoritarian political context, progressive face dilemmas questions both focus goals tactical alliances elites. A broader, more inclusive populist is possibility, but continuing danger co-optation forces right.
